With only one month left in my term as IAC Chair I reflected at the last membership meeting.

What I Learned
   
     - ACT- IAC is a great organization with a wonderful professional staff that is a joy to work for
    - I was blessed having Mary Davie as my ACT Chair. Mary has been enjoyable and fun to work with. She has great ideas and a dedication to making the industry government collaboration work.

If you did not attend the 6th Annual Small Business Conference held May 7th then you really missed a BIG conference. Co Chairs Jackie Patillo and Curt Anderson led a great team of IAC staff and planning committee members to truly put on a memborable one day collaboration event. With over 400 people attending this event SBC has moved into the big time of Industry/Government events in the Washington area. This attendance number was over 30% greater than the 5th Annual conference with 1/4 of the attendees being government. [more]

This is just one more word on the current brouhaha over the GSA PBS western conference. Once again we are letting the actions of a very small minority affect the behavior of the great majority. Congress has attached to the US Postal Service legislation a law that effectively kills all government attendance at any education, networking learning conferences. Not only is this legislation ill-conceived but it plays on election year politics. Washington is certainly a knee-jerk town and this knee-jerk takes the cake. [more]

As Mary Davie and I enter the last quarter of sharing the ACT-IAC leadership roles we have reflecting on what has been accomplished.

At the end of the day ACT-IAC is all about partnering and collaboration. The organization has shown that by working together we can make great progress.

The institute for Innovation is one example of industry and government partnering to establish a "mind bank" of expertise to tackle some of the more difficult challenges of "doing more with less".

I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and hugs from the federal IT community on the passing of my son. The number of people from our community at the memorial service was a real tribute to my son and my family.

We will miss our son more than words can express but the initial days following his death were supported from the many calls for any help that we might need bolstered my family through the rough days that we had and continue to have.

In my opinion when opportunity presents itself to you be aware.
ACT-IAC has some great opportunities for companies to showcase their technology, contribute subject matter expertise to the betterment of the government and earn some kudos that may turn into revenue.

ACT-IAC has recently called out three requests for technolgy intellectual property.
