Wait! Last week I said it was all about the budget. What is up?

As the dialogue around town goes on about making the government more effective and efficient (code word for saving budget) through the use of technology I continue to not hear anything close to that discussion.

The discussion continues on how we can make TECHNOLOGY spend more efficient and effective! That is an entirely different discussion. Cloud, data center consolidation, streamlined acquisition and more is all about saving IT dollars.

Now that the holidays are behind us, winter has settled in, the republican primaries are in full swing, what do we need to be concerned about?

I have the opportunity to attend several programs per week, generally with government panelists or speakers, and everyone is speaking about the budget and that certainly includes Steve VanRoekel, the federal CIO. In the pre-historic days high performance Ferraris were 12 cylinder engines with 6 dual weber carburetors. These cars were fast for the day, sounded great and when tuned correctly were the state of the art of the day. Now as I said "when tuned correctly". With virtually 12 carburetors on these cars the adjustments to the fuel input were limitless, when one or more adjustment was off then fuel starvation or overload took place and spark plugs would get fouled. BUT when they were running correctly look out Snoopy!

The ACT-IAC brand and our mission was very successful this past week. Two events set the tone for our organization continuing to be the go to group for our government associates. In our effort to provide collaboration and education with government these two events were great examples of accomplishment.

The first event took place Tuesday morning at the Dirksen Senate Office building as ACT-IAC hosted 30 congressional staffers at a round table discussion not unlike our CXO round tables at our conferences. [more]
